Eagle Lake is gearing up for opening day this weekend. The eagle lake fishing association says water tests were performed and samples collected. Water temperatures have dropped to the mid-30s with surface temps between 62F & 64F and nearby feeder springs running cooler.
The association adds the lake’s surface was clean with minor weed impacts, noting that Youth Camp & Pelican Pt had more fine weed pieces & fine particulates in the water. Yet, there are no surface algae, except on the north side of Pelican and about 10ft off Eagle’s Nest & Merrill.
The LAssen county sheriff’s office was also out on the water this week setting up the main hazard buoys around the lake.
A successful planting of trout was just completed on Tuesday. Fish and Game dumped 20,000 fish from Darrah Springs Hatchery near Manton & USFS got the dock installed.
Events will take place around the lake, from pancake breakfasts to craft fairs and pig roasts.
