Upcoming Events
Held the last week in January, The Red Bluff Bull Sale is an exciting and time honored tradition to jump start the new year. It has become more than a top sale of the best stock the industry has to offer; but a must attend social gathering for all in the ranching community to reconnect with old friends. The present day agenda also holds one of the largest trade shows in the Western United States, with vendors from around the nation bringing everything from tractors, chutes, and trailers, to handcrafted leather work, western clothing, jewelry and home decor.
The weeklong event is filled with festivities from seminars, clinics, competitions, dinners, and auctions. The energetic week of events ends with a standing room only Bull Riding Bash and Ranch Bronc Riding followed by a live band and dance on Saturday night.
WildBio Flourishing reports that full moon ski events are returning this winter to the Johnsville Historic Ski Bowl at Plumas-Eureka State Park. These events offer a unique evening experience that combines uphill skiing, snowshoeing, art and live music under the light of the full moon. The event is hosted by WildBio Flourishing and the Plumas Ski Club in partnership with Adventure Monkeys, Vibecraft Productions and California State Parks.
The first full moon ski event is scheduled for Jan. 31, with activities running from the afternoon into the evening
The Lake Almanor Area Chamber of Commerce encourages the community to get ready to chomp and compete in an epic Hungry Hippo Tourney featuring fun, friends and fierce munching.
This new version of a classic game is set for Jan. 31 at the Chester Park Skate Rink. Checkin runs from 1 to 1:45 p.m. and competition rounds start at 2.
Participants glide on a tube that their partner sends racing toward the center to munch up as many balls as they can before the clock runs out. The top five highest scorers after four rounds will take home the pot.
All ages are welcome. Registration is limited and costs $20 for a two-person team. Participants should wear clothing for winter weather and a helmet for the tube player. The event also includes music and hot food and drinks.
